Aaqil Ahmed

Professor Aaqil Ahmed is the former Head of Religion and Ethics at both the BBC and Channel 4. At Channel 4, he was also the Head of Multicultural Programming, winning numerous awards from BAFTA, Emmy to Royal Television Society, as well as receiving nominations including Grierson and Oscar.

Aaqil is a visiting Professor of Media at the University of Bolton and teaches at a number of universities. He is a published writer, speaker and leader in media, diversity, religion, demographics and culture.

As well as being a member of the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, he is a committee member of Ofcom’s England advisory committee; Trustee of the Sandford St Martins Trust, The Rugby Football League London Foundation and a Non Executive Director of Ffilm Cymru, Elstree Film Studios and Culture Squared the CIC that produces The Bradford Literature Festival.

His company, Amplify Consulting Limited, specialises in Television and digital media production, religion, media and diversity strategy and training, as well as communication advice and training. The company is currently the broadcasting consultancy for Bradford, the UK City of Culture 2025.
